Car Movie in Flash

Activity 4.3

This activity required the creation of a Car Movie, created using the elements from Module 3 and Flash. A quicktime controller was used to display the movie in this web page. It was tested in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera and works satisfactorily in all three browsers. This exercise did not seem to be too difficult. The File size is 90Kb.

Skills Gained

I created two intermediate keyframes (as shown in the course instructions) and then tweened the movement, easing in and out at the beginning and end of the travel. Finally, I added a motion tween for the closing title, using a text symbol that changed from the background colour to the desired colour in the final frame, thus gradually appearing. The audio was set as 'Event' and the file exported as swf file with no looping.

I learned about converting gifs and images to symbols, motion tweening and fine tuning movement effects, also adding sound to a Flash file and setting the sound parameters and publishing settings to optimise performance. The animation exercise using Fireworks (assignment 2) provided a good introduction to the basics and made it easier to develop these skills in Flash. An earlier mismatch between the audio and visual was solved by setting Sync to 'Event'.
